Tell me father

What dream
Do you have for me --
What in tomorrow
Would you desire
For me to see...

What memory
Would you like
For me to keep --
What fleeting moment
Would you want
Me to repeat...

What past times
Would you want me
To keep in mind --
How would you like
For me to remember
How you taught me
To simply be kind...

What Christmas
Memories would you
Have me to relive --
What part of myself
Would you desire
For me to give...

What time spent
With you alone
Would you want
Me to harbor within
My heart --
What thoughts
Of you
Would you like
For me to keep
When we are apart...

How would you
Like for me
To wake
Each day --
And how would you
Like for me
To act and kind
Words say...

Would you answer
These things
For me father
Before you leave
This earth --
You see father
It is that you
Are the one
I trust and the one
Who truly knows
My worth...

Would you father
Please share with me
The wisdom
Of your days --
For the time will come
When I will need
To know how
To speak with kindness
And to live with loving
Ways...

How else father
Will I come
To know
How to share myself
In this world
As along life's path
I go...

You see father
Others may
Make offer
Of their thoughts
And ways
But no one is you
Father
And no one else
Has shared my days...

So I ask you father
That you give to me
The wisdom
Of your years
And the knowledge
That you did gain --
For one day
I will need to know
When you
Are no longer
By my side
And life reveals
Joy as well as pain...

It is then
That I will have
The legacy
That you you have shared
With me
And I will be
Prepared
To live within
This realm
With grace
Until I meet you
Once again
On that side of
Eternity...

So father
While we have time
Would you please
Share yourself
With me --
For there will
Come a time
When you
I cannot see...

There will come
A time
When father
I will recall
All you shared with me --
And I will use
The wisdom gained
In my earthly walk
Until we are reunited
On that side of
ETERNITY...

A lovely tribute to your earthly and heavenly father. I can see asking some of these questions to both. "Nicely Done"

To have a loving father to share your life with and gain wisdom from is truly special.

What thought you must have put into this piece. As I really took my time to read and let the words speak to my heart, I could hear Father God telling me to remember my own father and let the Holy Spirit remind me of how he changed over the years. Thank you for taking the time to put these thoughts out there in such a "precise" way.
