Happy in Him

We cannot touch it, nor hold it in our hands,
put it in our pocket, wear it as a locket.
No happy is felt as an emotion,
a feeling in the heart as is devotion.

What is happiness? A feeling so grand,
elation, glee and thoughts of eternity.
Euphoria, delight and pure bliss,
high spirits, jubilation, as a gentle kiss.

How does this happy spirit come to us?
Is it someone to love sent from above?
We are one with the world, rapture divine,
Jesus said we are His, and He is thine.

He will always love us if we only believe.
Followed by a multitude, hear a sweet prelude,
then songs of praise sent up to Him with joy,
as choirs lift their voices, songs deploy.

Happiness often comes from things of this world,
although we have enough, we want more stuff.
We long for money, buy beautiful things,
dream of luxurious homes fit for most kings.

We must store up our treasures in Heaven, 1
His word tells us true, so why should we pursue
earthly wealth let us keep our eyes on the Lord.
In Heaven is where we will reap our reward.

Be happy in the King of Kings, the Great I Am,
for by His grace we are saved, not enslaved
in sin. Seek the lost, show them the way
to their great inheritance on that coming day.

Enjoyed this - much truth in these words. Your rhythm tripped me up a little, but it may just have been me. Keep writing!

I enjoyed the unique rhyming style you use, here. I agree that the rhythm could use some attention. I like to compare first line with first line of each stanza, counting syllables and accents to make things "match." Then, do that with second lines, etc. Then, read it aloud to see if the cadence holds or not. You're on your way!

I liked this. Short, but still makes a wonderful point.
