To dream is to hope for something better, something we don’t have. When Adam and Eve ate the fruit in the Garden of Eden God had to instill in man He had created a new dream, a new hope for the future. He had to promise a Savior. Only a Savior could bring new hopes, new dreams for a better life.
Who is this Hope that God promised; this Savior of mankind?
In order to know who our Savior is; we need to know why we need one. For that let’s look at Genesis 3.
We see first of all the Serpent, Satan; entering the idyllic scene in the same way that one crashes a party. He wanted to steel something from God, us. In order to do that he had to do three things: He had to tempt us by making something forbidden look pleasing to the eye. 1 John 2:16 calls that the lust of the flesh, lust of the eyes, and the pride of life. He scored in all three areas. He questioned Eve about the tree and its fruit. What did God say about it? Then he made it pleasing to the eyes, and he told her it would make her wise. He had her. She doubted what God had told them, and she took the fruit and gave it to Adam.
God was prepared. We know the reason why – man sinned therefore he needed a Savior.
Now the question remains – who is this Savior?
Some call him friend. He’s the friend of the fatherless, widow, and orphan.
He’s called the Light of the world. The Door. The Way, the Truth, and the Life. He’s called Manna, because all who eat the words He gives have hope eternal. He is a wellspring of living water that will never run dry.
Who is my Savior? His name is Jesus, my Friend, and my Hope.
Now I have a dream for a new and better tomorrow, because I have Hope today. I am free to dream of peace on earth, a world free of hunger and disease, and a world where there is no war, where everyone lives in peace with his brother.
People have always dreamed, and because people have always dreamed, people have always hoped.
Satan has come to kill, steel, and destroy, but Jesus came so that we might have life, and life more abundantly. In order to have an abundant life, we have to have hope. Never stop dreaming or hoping. Hope is only a dream away.
