Yes, its beautiful because its made up of different colours. And God put it there.
He could have chosen anything at all to be a sign of the covenant, but He chose a bow.
I find it interesting that God described the sign of the covenant based on its structure.
A bow (Genesis 9:13), a thing that is curved in shape, which to me would be the least thing to focus on. I am less likely to pay attention to the structure when all those beautiful colours are displayed in such a unique pattern.
I pictured in my mind’s eye, how the bow, we call the rainbow, would look if it was just made up of one colour. What if it was made up of the brightest colour, red?
Would it be as beautiful as it is now? I didn’t think so
Red is bright and bold, but it just one of the many colours in the bow and in the world.
Exactly why its ok if I am not Red, I can’t be best and perfect in everything based on the world’s description.
I can’t be Red, I don’t and can’t have the perfect body, a super IQ, be overly confident, be best the dressed, be the best athlete, belong to the best country, be born by the best parents and the list goes on.
I can only be the best I can as God grants me grace and that can be yellow, purple, green or indigo.
It’s tiring and frustrating to walk in the world trying to fit into it because you feel like you don’t belong.
All because unlike God, the world focuses on things that look good because they are bright and bold. Decided to pick one, exalted it above every other colour and ensured that we all struggle to be that colour.
The world has settled on what the best and perfect life is, and we are all expected to meet that standard.
But its never really about a particular colour which looks pleasant to the eye or individuality.
Its about each person being the best of who God has made them to be and shine the brightest.
And then we all come together to be what God had purposed us to be as a people.
The world has missed out on the ultimate structure, which is God’s glory displayed by mankind.
But God has called us to it in Christ Jesus.
He has set us a sign in the world as children of God united in Christ.
So, I will not focus on becoming a Red, but rather being Led by Christ to live out my individual calling. My calling is my colour, beautifully put together to complement other peoples colours which will altogether make a beautiful body of Christ.
