An upscale homeless shelter, that sounds like an oxymoron to me. I don’t know what I have to offer, but if he thinks he can make a difference then God bless him.
There is nothing special about my life. All I do all day is walk back and forth. I like to think of myself as a big city traveler, except I just travel in the same city. I’m like a pendulum, again just swinging back and forth. Stuck behind the glass and watching the world go by.
A few weeks ago Jim had three of his young bucks follow me around and ask me questions about my daily routines. It’s funny; they spent more time trying not to get their pressed jeans and fancy shoe dirty than listening to me.
Honestly I felt like an ungroomed bulldog being led around at the Westminster Dog Show than a teacher.
Jim and I had lunch again together over at the Heavenly Diner. There is something spiritual about that place. If you ever get a chance to eat there you should, it’s a very special place.
He told that he has been posting bits and pieces of my life on a website called FaithWriters. He said he wanted to see what kind of reactions and feedback the stories would receive. He told me that both stories did very well.
The first story was called the “The Grace of God” and it got a second place ribbon. The other story “Little Mother Teresa” received a high commended marking. I can see the excitement in his eyes and the enthusiasm in his voice.
Jim has tried to get me to stay in his man cave in his basement. I don’t know what that is so I’m going to stick it out in the abandoned building. The generosity that Jim and his wife have shown me has been unbelievable.
They got me two new sleeping bags and a space heater for Christmas. Jim took me to get a new coat and new winter boots. It’s been so warm this winter I really didn’t need the boots, but last week when it snowed they were nice to have.
Talk to you soon.
