The days and nights flew by and before she knew it, her daughter was born. Daylight hours seemed more cheery and joyful when holding her sweet child in her arms. The nights weren't so dark anymore even if the baby's cries kept her awake. My friend reasoned that all new mothers have to get up in the night at one time or another.
The child grew up and one sunny day this daughter committed her love and devotion to her dear, sweet soul mate. The days were sunny and exhilarating. The nighttimes were filled with comfort, for she was with the one whom she loved. But far too soon, to her family's dismay, the nasty disease knocked at the daughter's door and life would never be the same.
Cloudy days felt cloudier and sunny days just could not cheer the daughter's soul. The nights felt darker than she ever could have imagined. Yet into the lives of this young family a child was born and for a season the days were bright and the nights not so painful nor so unsettling. It was a gentle reprieve from the pain.
And then, like a nuclear explosion, the daughter's disease reappeared and everything changed. This sweet daughter, now a mother herself, endured the agony of a life-threatening disease: her battle was valiant and her resolve to fight the dark night of the soul was strong. Those who cheered her on to survive tried so hard to help the days seem to the daughter a little brighter. They tried to help ease the darkness of the night. Yet despite the fight, the disease won.
The daughter left the earth in an untimely manner. She left the awful dark night of disease behind and woke to the eternal daylight of heaven. No more night. No more pain. Now only daylight. Now only wholeness and joy. Day's joy turned to night's pain. Night's pain was left behind and she sailed to joyous day. Now she is a soul set free.

Hope (of heaven) held fast truly sets us free.
Satan throws himself into the mix with his hope of making us loose or cast aside our hope.
We must faithfully set our heart on heaven and our eyes in God's word.
Well written piece in journal fashion to bring to the forefront of how some people cannot escape the throes of despair or darkness, it's a constant spiritual battle and warfare.
