Topic: Black Sheep of the Family (10/03/13)
God’s Anointing

As I analyze the famous phrase, “The Black Sheep of the Family” the key word that sticks out with me is the word sheep and a sheep is lead by a shepherd. As I ponder on the word shepherd, Psalm 23rd comes to mind and the key verse states, “The Lord is my shepherd and I shall not want.” Then continuing with the remaining verses of Psalm 23rd, it goes on to tell how the Lord is our provider, comforter, and our source of goodness and mercy. So your decision to surrender and allow the Lord to lead you should not be a difficult decision, when His word states that He is our ultimate provider.

As I continue to analyze this phrase and tie it all together, I align the word black which describe the sheep as having a unique quality and different from the family. I look at the aspect of this black sheep as being different because the shepherd has instilled an anointing over this particular sheep, and in due season these unique qualities will stand out boldly and shine fourth under the mighty hand of his shepherd

My familiarity with the slogan “The Black Sheep of the Family” was a label that was placed on me at a very early age, and it was very painful for me. This slogan caused me to have a mindset of not fitting in with a family and an outcast. I had every right to feel this way because at birth, I was sent away to be raised by another family and never told about my biological family. I would say that a great attempt was made by the family that I was raised with to make me feel a part of the family; however, I always stood out as the child that was brought into the family and not born into the family. So yes, I was different but years to come my different characteristics were proven to be an anointing instilled in me by my shepherd the Lord God.

In leading me, my shepherd taught me that He is my Abba Father, and I am adopted into His Family, so I am not an outcast. My shepherd also taught me that my unique qualities that set me apart from the family are actually my gifts and anointing to use as I spread the Good News about my shepherd.

This is a lovely testimony. This topic has been bringing up a lot of old wounds. I think so many of us feel like an outcast no matter what.

The only thing I might challenge you to do is write on topic without using the topic phrase. It can be difficult, but some of the best stories never mention the actual words yet are still on topic. I could definitely see where you were coming from and think you are talented enough to rise up to that challenge. :)

I really liked how you emphasized God's love. Being different really isn't that bad. God made us all unique and we each have a wonderful purpose in life. You do a nice job of reminding me of that.

I liked how you started by analyzing the phrase and then continued by using your experiences

It is when we do not use our gifts and talents that we become "a black sheep".

Your article should make us think about ourselves.
