David and Dinah were new couple whose conversations were well punctuated with love-words as expected.
Three weeks into their honeymoon, David introduced new words into their love-life, My Remnant.
The first day he used them, he called up to a dozen times without any response. Dinah was rattled, thinking: "Who is he calling?"
Thoughts went riotous in her heart but remained calm.
"My Remnant! Why did you not answer me?" he spread his hands towards her, as she prepared breakfast.
Frowning, nodding and looking at him disdainfuly, "Who's your remnant?"
"Dinah, of course.
You're my Remnant.
You're my better half;
You're the Remnant of My Spirit.
See Malachi 2:15." he laughed pointing a finger to her.
"Ok-a-a-y! That's God's Mathematics of one plus one equals one." an inviting look took over her face.
They kissed each other to seal the matter.
Six months after, David's employers transfered him to Warri branch of their corporation, about twelve-hour journey to Oyo, where they resided.
Both decided that David visited every month to avoid all unreasonable risks.
Distance could not reduce their love and trust. The Lord sustained them. Every effort to bring him back to Oyo failed.
One day, David came home to have a blissful time beaming with smiles because he was granted a three-day casual leave added to his weekend.
But no!
"You've a call." Dinah alerted, transfering his phone to him.
"it's an sms, not a call."
He opened and read it: "Mummy is sick. Please come to Ondo as soon as possible because the Doctor said, 'her blood pressure had dropped drastically from her normal readings. There's also fluid in her lung that she may become death rattled.' therefore, come and see her before something else happens." he hissed and hit the top of the table.
"What happened?" she stretched her neck to read it.
He gave the phone to her.
"What do we do now? Mama is on danger list. We must act fast." she twisted her head sideways to profer a solution.
He left for Ondo on a twelve-hour trip.
After his return, both resolved to employ a teenage girl to assist David's sister taking care of the woman.
David visited anytime on his way to Oyo doubling his journey hours.
One day, David arrived home to commence his annual vacation. His wife and two children were happy to have him. Plans had been made to enjoy the thirty-day stay.
It was during the breakfast, the following day, that David received an sms:
"The housegirl assisting me has taken ill barely a month after mama's recovery. Tests have shown that she's two-month pregnant; and that you're responsible. Let's meet on this."
The phone and spoon in his hands dropped. He stood and sat many times. He held his head with both hands. He bit his lips as tears were flowing freely.
"What's the matter?" Dinah moved closer putting her hands on his shoulders to shake him.
No response whatsoever.
She took his phone to read the sms.
She was rattled by it.
She headed for her room- crying and slapping her thighs "Yeh! Yeh!! Yeh!!! I'm in trouble. ".
Suddenly, a voice said, "Dinah, you've remained chaste from your youth, so was David. You're the author of what happened."
She stood on her feet, wiped tears from her face and said "Lord, I never cheated."
"Yes but you're an emissary of immorality between your male bosses and their sinner women friends. You failed to heed my several warnings. Those women have their own husbands; likewise those men have their wives. You've given room for adversaries to blasphame my holy name. You did yours in secret, the sun now witnesses your penalty."
Immediately, Romans 1:29-32 came to her mind.
"being filled with all unrighteousness, sexual immorality,... Who knowing the righteous judgment of God, that those who practice such things are deserving of death, NOT ONLY DO THE SAME BUT ALSO APPROVE OF THOSE WHO PRACTICE THEM."
"Lord, forgive me for approving those who cheat!" she pleaded, sobbing.

This is a true confession of a sister with little modifications in setting.

In the future, you might want to narrow it down to just a small piece of the story--because of the challenge's required word count--that way you could still get your point across, without making the reader feel a bit rushed. :) It's just a thought though.
I liked the characters of David and Dinah, I wished that I'd known more about them to understand what made them make the choices they did and so on. Thank you for sharing this!
Great job! God bless~
That said, you have a great message in this, something well worth pondering.
