In one of his broadcasts to the nation, he said, "This country is corrupt from head to toe."
During this time, there was a preacher of righteousness in that nation called Lee Shine, who quickly became known as National Preacher because he was the most prominent and influential among the preachers.
He was greatly endued with power and gifts from God.
The Lord was with him wherever he went.
His message to all and sundary was, "Repent therefore and be converted, that your sins may be blotted out; so that times of refreshing may come from the presence of the Lord."
But who wanted to hear this message?
Soon after assuming office, the ever smiling President invited all ministers of God to a meeting with him.
In the meeting, the President said, "We invited you to this here to seek your co operation and prayer support...."
They gave him a thunderous applause when he finished his speech.
Lee Shine was invited to address the gathering. He said, "Let us all repent..."
Although the President smiled when he finished, it clearly showed that he was unsatisfied and uncomfortable with the message.
As the meeting closed, each of the minister was offered a present. Trust him, Lee Shine refused his own with a few others following suit. They saw it as satan's poisoned apple.
However, majority of them went home with their "share of national cake" as they later termed it.
Lee Shine's followers began meeting regularly to pray, encourage each other and brainstorm on how to preach the truth in a corrupt nation as theirs.
Soon, the security report reaching the Presidency tagged them "The Repent Group" planning to overthrow the government.
They assembled one day, and the meeting ended abruptly because of an explosion that claimed the lives of many of them instantly.
Those who were wounded later died in the hospital.
Lee and those who could not attend the meeting that day had security men trailing them from that day on.
This did not deter Lee from repeating his message, "Repent..."
One day, on the President's and Jezzil's instructions, the Director of State Security Services invited the fearless Preacher to his office when two earlier attempts to arrest him failed.
The first team was burnt mysteriously in a fire and the vehicle of the second team plumged into a deep river where all occupiers were drowned.
The Director said to Lee, "We have been instructed to eleminate you today but your ministry had helped me and few others in this service by telling us to repent from our evil deeds. Therefore, I will advise that you stop preaching in this country. Go to a neighboring country to continue the work of God."
Lee replied, "Thanks for your love and counsel. However, I have been sent to the people of this evil and adulterous nation."
They shook hands and Lee departed.
One day, there was a great feast organised by the Presidency for all priests, prophets and preachers of all sects.
In anger, Lee went to the venue and said, "You are all here as enemies of God eating and drinking the fruits of corruption. Repent now or be consumed with fire."
Before he could finish, fire descended and consumed them.
When Jezzil heard, she sent a death threat to him.
Strange movements around his house forced him to flee into the forest, where he climbed to the top of an ancient mountain for security reasons and to pray.
In the last few crusades he held, he changed his message from "Repent..." to "I have been very zealous for the Lord; for His people have forsaken His way and killed all His Preachers. I alone am left; and they seek to take my life."
When on the Mountain, a still small voice asked him, "What are you doing here, Lee?"
He repeated his new message to the Lord, "...I alone am left; and they seek to take my life."
The voice asked again, "What are you doing here, Lee?"
His reply remained "... I alone am left; and they seek to take my life."
Then, the response came, "Leave this place, as you are going into the city, you will meet a young man, Lee Mann by name. You shall anoint him as a Preacher to replace you.
He will take you to various assemblies where My people, about seven thousand, who have not corrupted themselves meet."
He did according to the commandment of the Lord.
