We are often told to expect the unexpected, yet when it comes we are never truly prepared for the events that transpire.
Whatever we do during these trying times, (there will be many) often determines the life we live for the rest of our days, however long they may be. No one knows what the future holds. But, as the preacher says we must place our trust in the one who holds the future. With so many uncertainties, we can choose “Que sera, sera (whatever will be, will be) or we can, with bold confidence, face each new day with renewed strength and a sense of divine purpose with destiny in our view. God promised, by his infinite mercies, morning by morning we can begin again and again. There is no reason for anyone to give up and accept defeat, regardless of the struggles. Life is just too short to allow anything, good or bad, or anyone to hinder us from what God has in store for us.

From conception to birth and from the cradle to the grave; this long road is filled with countless obstacles and daily challenges, all contributing to the fascination of life.
One of the most beautiful scenes one can behold is that of a baby asleep on a soft white blanket. With such peaceful, quiet confidence as the mother watches over her infant. Every mother knows that if her child must grow and develop, a safe and comfortable environment is essential. Shhhh…. The baby is sleeping; be quiet.
Then comes those early learning days in Pre-k and kindergarten; every child will play and learn so much, but every well-trained teacher knows there must be some nap time.
From elementary to high school and on to college, even during these years, the curriculum is formulated with recess time, lunch time, and vacation, all these are crucial periods of rest from the exacting demands of intense studies with exams and testing.
Now it’s off to work. For some of us, the eight hour grind has to be balanced with a few hours of leisurely activities. But, at the end of each day, whenever that period ends, you crash, and you’ve got to find a bed, a couch, a corner, someplace, somewhere, so as to get some much needed sleep.
We have all learned by our own experiences that this is vitally essential for our ability to function on the job, and with co-workers; especially with those careers in service to the public. Also, if you are required to commute long distances to the office or job site and you must drive, you’ll soon realize that you’ve got to curtail those extra-curricular activities to allow for the doctor-recommended six to eight hours to rejuvenate
At age 65, now retired, and you can’t do as much as before, you learn to appreciate those midday naps.
However, as we look towards our eternal home, trusting that by reason of strength, we fill our allotment of years; we should keep this sincere prayer in your heart … Jesus keep me near the cross be my glory ever, till my raptured soul shall find rest beyond the river. (From the hymn, Near the Cross)
Let us therefore fear; lest a promise being left us of entering into his rest, any of you should seem to come short of it. Hebrews 4:1.(KJV)
