Topic: War and Peace (not about the book) (07/07/11)
What is war and peace for the Christian? To me it is a non trusting heart and verbal accusations and accusations in the heart from others. It could be a mindset someone has. May I talk to you on these subjects? Discussing the events that may have taken place in your life could be a hurtful experience. Having a gift of faith and helping others becomes a war in my life because people I have met in passing or even a close friend don’t trust me. Having the gift of helps and faith; loving the Lord and wanting to do the right thing for others have become a burden in my life. Because I am being a righteous person in the sight of God with Him being my boss, doesn’t seem to make any difference to others when I emulate my God of righteousness and Faith.

My heart cries because my gifts can’t be used where they are supposed to be, for the reason they are blocked with the artillery of defence and the attacks by others before me.

I would like to relate this to war as we know it today. An enemy attacks, people are killed. A peacemaker comes to camp or through the media to try to make peace. The peacemaker is not believed because the one that was attacked has been hurt. The war goes on.

Ok! A physical war may not relate to you. What about physical pain. I have had pain in my left leg for a long time. After a CT scan, they found out there is a separation and slippage. I reviewed my options. The doctor said the best way is to treat it conservatory with medications. I am still not at peace because the pain goes on.

Where has peace gone? Why doesn’t the war stop? I was reminded from the Sunday Church service that Paul the apostle said the things he wouldn’t do, He finds himself doing those things he shouldn’t. Is my sin different to Pauls or for that matter the same as others? Paul the apostle had the problem with covetousness.

I guess the war goes on in our lives inwardly and it begs the question of what war is going on in our lives. And what peace can I have knowing that God’s work is hindered because of an untrusting spirit?

As I searched my heart, I can only come up with one answer. When I get to heaven and in the glory of His presence, it‘s only then I will know why an untrusting spirit and the war that we endured was present in our lives.

Having peace in the presence of God is the only peace I can have to conquer the war I am in now.

You make a good point about feeling defensive and having a hard time using gifts due to others'lack of trust. I can totally relate to this. Winning the war against rejection seems to be half the battle for the Christian soldier. Thanks for sharing this.
