8:37. Hubby gives Lynn an absentminded kiss as he sprints out the door for work. Lynn pours herself another cup of coffee and starts to make breakfast for Krissy, Liam, and baby Jack.
9:30. Lynn puts the kids in front of a piece of butcher paper and a box of crayons. She heads for the computer, ready to start her writing for the day.
9:32. “Mommy, I have to go potty.”
9:40. “Mommy, Jack's eating crayons.”
9:41. “Mommy. Mommy. Mommy.”
9:45. Lynn bundles Jack into his stroller and takes them for a walk to the park. She is thinking of all the things she'll write as soon as she gets back. She absentmindedly forgets to stop at the playground.
10:14. “Okay, kids, Mommy's busy. Watch Jack in his playpen and don't fight.” Lynn decides to clean off her desk before she starts writing.
11:35. “Mommy, I'm hungry,” Liam whines, coming into the room. Lynn looks up from the first draft of an old story she found underneath a pile of bills. The desk is still a mess. She decides to make lunch.
1:03. The kitchen is clean, the children are fed, and Krissy and Jack are fast asleep while Liam colors. Lynn peeks into the mess of the office room and veers away, suddenly remembering she has to call her mother and her friend Sandra back about Liam's birthday party.
2:30. Lynn hangs up just as Jack and Krissy wander in, looking sleepy.
4:22. Afternoon Activity Time is finished. Lynn looks at the clock and realizes she needs to start marinating the meat for dinner.
4:37. “Mommy! Mommy, Liam hitted me!” Krissy yells from the other room. “Liam hit me, Krissy,” Lynn yells back. She notices how grimy the refrigerator is looking. There's a loud thump and the baby starts to wail.
5:30. Hubby walks in the door just as Lynn is heading for the computer. They stop to chat for a while and Hubby updates her on office gossip. The baby starts to cry again and the timer for the meat goes off.
6:12. Dinnertime. Lynn spends most of it wrestling food into Jack's mouth.
7:05. Lynn does the dishes.
7:26. Lynn cleans the refrigerator.
7:54. Lynn starts to get everyone ready for bed.
9:32. The kids are in bed, Hubby is watching TV, and the desk is moderately clean. With a sense of accomplishment, Lynn finally sits down to write. She stretches, smiles, and positions her fingers on the keys.
9:59. Still staring at the screen, her fingers still on the keyboard, Lynn gradually comes to a realization. She doesn't want to admit it to herself, but she can't ignore it. Writer's Block has struck again.

Well done on your "first" challenge. This highlights the topic so well. I can just hear the little ones calling "mommy, mommy, mommy". Where does time go? It slips away, minute by minute. Great job.
(I am feeling a crimp in my freedom as a writer though.)
