Sympathizers of the Colonialist’s cause were pledging support and openly defying authorities. The Mother country’s tyranny must be stopped. The will of men to self-rule releases a force of power that squashes resistance of a better equipped foe.
State run militias dedication and bravery outweighed a lack of experience, supplies and funding. Skirmishes led to carefully executed campaigns. A declaration of war made it clear; there would be no turning back. Patriots would win their freedom or die trying to establish our republic.
War makes no clear cut distinctions between nationality, race, gender, or age. The blood of all spilled on our native soil paid the high price of liberty and justice for all. Man’s weapons gave power to protect his family and property. Yet, within hearts and conscience, most sensed stability must have a foundation based on divinely conceived governing.
Our fathers of freedom sought God and penned The Declaration of Independence. The unquestioned authority of the official document is found not in loop-holes of legislation. The supreme sacrifice of those who signed their names sealed their destinies.
Like Abraham and Moses most forefathers did not see the fulfillment of God’s promises personally. In faith they believed one day others would reap the blessings of blood soaked seeds of freedom.
Within my heart rebellion and sin try to oppress me. The tyranny of living in bondage is too much to fight alone. My natural weapons of self-determination and resolve are worthless. Today I stand upon the authority of my Declaration of Dependence.
I will depend upon the power of the Sword of the Spirit, God’s written word. “We live in this world, but we don’t act like its people or fight our battles with the weapons of this world. Instead, we use God’s power that can destroy fortresses. We destroy arguments and every bit of pride that keeps anyone from knowing God (2 Corinthians 10:3-5a CEV).”
My old nature does not surrender without a fight. I will conquer. “If the Son gives you freedom, you are free (John 8:36 CEV)!” I trust in Him and His divinely inspired word penned by my spiritual forefathers.

I felt a strong sense of taking a stand--for freedom!
Great, Great message, well written and good take on the topic.
My favorite line, "I will depend upon the power of the sword of the spirit, God's written word." I love how this reminds us that the sword and pen become like siamese twins. Serving a dual purpose. To both destroy the flesh and give new life in the spirit!
Good job.
