I remember my fascination watching color TV at the home of my best friend. The Cartwright’s of Bonanza took me to the greenest pastures I’d ever seen! Nevada’s colorful mountains, tall pines, and rolling rivers were in the living room! Cowboys sat around camp fires of dancing orange and blue flames. Little Joe put on his short waist green jacket and jumped on his Arabian horse. The faithful companion’s warm brown and white colors seemed to jump off the screen! The patriarch Ben stood as the picture of wisdom and experience with shimmering white hair. The massive size and personality of Hoss were often used as the plot for the weekly programs. One show featured dwarfs employed as Leprechauns by a carnival. They climbed trees and hid among the branches full of leaves. They wore the color of the Ireland homeland. Green costumes and leafy trees blended in perfectly! Ben’s oldest son Adam could have doubled for Johnny Cash as “the man in black!” Adam’s black hair matched his black western clothing. It is interesting to discover the true contrast of black and white on color screens. Black & white television seems to broadcast shades of gray! Sixty minutes at the Ponderosa ranch opened my eyes to God’s colorful world!
The Wonderful World of Disney aired on Sunday nights. In the past we needed to go to movie theatres to see color movies and animated features. When Disney aired on television, we could enjoy the entertainment free of charge at home with our families! Mickey, Donald Duck, Goofy, Peter Pan, Tinker Bell, and many more colorful characters filled all four corners of television screens. Were you exploring the wilderness with Davey Crocket and his brown coon skin cap? Did you cry when Old Yeller died? Color added a special touch to stories that were already meaningful.
Some stars appearing both on the wide screen and television were known by their appearance highlighted by color. Rhonda Fleming and Maureen O’Hara were both a director’s dream come true with red hair! We can’t forget Howdy Doody! His red hair and freckles were nothing until we could see them for ourselves!
I remember a humorous local television true story. Syracuse, N.Y. television featured Jim DeLine for many years. When they purchased their first color camera they played a trick on their air personality. They said he would need to wear a good deal of makeup for the color broadcast. He fell for it, and did the show with the face only a mother could love! Rosy cheeks and red lips got lots of laughs! He later laughed along; but first I’m sure he blushed in embarrassment!
When we loose the appreciation of God’s colorful creation we need a refresher course! Color is everywhere from nature to mankind. God loves variety and uses a vast array of shades and hues. I have a very special connection to color; it’s in my blood! Before my Mother married my Dad she worked at a photo studio. She used oil paint to color portraits! Yes, I am very grateful for our colorful world and rejoice in knowing the Artist who created it all!

My only critique would be that exclamation points should be used rarely, if at all, outside of dialog. Use strong word choices rather than punctuation to convey emotion.
This is very good, and the lesson at the end quite appropriate.
