Topic: Yellow (11/12/09)
I am reminded of the yellow bow, the bow we see hanging so gracefully around the trees. It helps us to remember those whom are serving and those whom did not come home. Keeping the families in our prayers is such a vital thing. They so need our support as many of them feel alone and confused.

I share these things and say them proudly, as my husband served two years in Iraq. It has helped me to remember the family members who are left behind. They struggle to meet the everyday responsibilities. Paying their bills, tending to the children and their needs, caring for the responsibilities of the home! These are issues they must face every day that loved ones are not here to help them with.

These are things I struggled with while my husband was away. It has taught me a great deal of how to appreciate the littlest of things. I am always reminded of how to love more and do more. Even when it looks hopeless!

So, for these reason we need to remember to show our support to those whom serve our country and our God proudly! It is so important to wear your yellow bow and show you’re supporting and praying for them every day!

Perhaps you could go more into detail for this story. Why are you reminded of the yellow bow in the opening line? Remember, not everyone knows the significance of those yellow ribbons. Show us how you learned to care more for others as a result of your husband being away. Keep up the writing!

We have several military families in my church and I have learned of the hardships they go through when their husband/wife are not there for them. I too would like to see an expanded version of this story. I'd like to see you tell us of the responsibilities you took on while your husband was away defending our country - maybe some of the fear you felt and how God eased that fear for you. At any rate, you did an excellent job. Keep writing!

Thanks for writing this devotional. It is good for us all to remember the families who are sacrificing by living without their fathers, husbands, etc. Do you have any examples of how people cared for your during your husband's deployment? It would be great if we could "feel" it through your eyes.
