We lived in New Orleans way before the hurricane hit it. We lived on the Baptist Seminary there. My dad was going to school to be a preacher. Therefore, I was the PK (preachers Kid)in my family.
Every Sunday, I was touched by one of the elders in the church. They always knew how to say a word of encouragement to me. What ever they said was always a blessing to me. Those were the days that touched my heart and my memory the most.
Every Sunday after church, I would go hang out with the other kids on the campus. We would either go to the pool, the gym and play games of all kinds, or go to the park. We loved it!
That is were I grew up. I've always remembered once a year, we would have mardi gras parades. There was always one Sunday that my father would have to cancel services because the parade came right in front of the church. Yet, somehow we would always manage to catch a few beads here and there.
Still, we would always come back on those Sunday nights after the parades had all gone away and have service again. It was in those moments that hang with me the most.
I can recall my father standing before the church. I can hear him now as he would finish the sermon and emphasizing “Know that you Know!” Know that you know the Lord Jesus Christ in a real and personal way. Know that He is Lord of your life!
Nine times out of 10 someone would always come forward on those very words. Those words are very powerful and have touched many lives.
