Not really
Very scarcely
For when they think of me
They think of poverty
Of sickness and of slavery
But that’s not me
That’s hardly who I am
I’m much more than that
In spite of my struggles, my pains, my sufferings
I’m untouchable, I’m strong,
I’m unrelenting.
But that’s not all
I’ve got a joy
That springs not
From the abundance of my wealth
But from the sufferings I overcame
I have a love
Not gotten from the goodness
Shed upon me
But on the sufferings I endured
For in spite of my pain
God gave me the strength to endure
Despite my afflictions
He gave me reasons to smile again
So when you think of Africa,
Don’t think of my pain
But of my victory
When you think of Africa
Don’t think of the poverty
But of my affluent and unbroken spirit
For despite the war for my soul
I came out victorious
Despite the struggle for my life
I came out unscathed
I am untouchable I am victorious!
I am and always will be
AFRICA!
Notes: Pleasant, that is "Africa" Africa means "pleasant"
