My hair is a mess and I need a "hairdo"
There's still candy to make, letters to write,
And look at this house! It's truly a sight!
The family will be here, whether ready or not.
There's beds to be made, and set up a cot.
The menu, oh my, it has all been planned;
But, oh the time all of this does demand!
I missed my devotions, where does time go?
Can't make it to church, I should go, I know!
The presents need wrapping, must set up the tree.
Why does everything seem to be left up to me?
Just three days to accomplish what needs to be done,
So that all of the family can have a lot of fun!
A knock on the door! Now who can that be?
Why would anyone come NOW, and bother me?
When I opened that door with all of my might,
Beautiful children's voices rang out, singing "Silent Night"
And I was so ashamed of all that I had done,
Without giving time or thought to our God's dear Son;
Whose birth I was preparing to celebrate,
Neglecting all, that makes Christmas great!
I thought about admonitions by God's dear Son,
To become as a little child, which I hadn't done!
The gleam on the children's faces, their serving ways,
Made me look back on the behavior of the last days!
In repentence, I bowed to my Savior, my King;
And vowed never again to be encumbered with things!
To give Jesus His place in celebrating His Day,
Not letting gifts and the world's values to have their sway!
Not a gift I'd bought, could compare with God's love,
When He gave us Jesus, the greatest gift from above!

I have to agree with the others. This is a great poem, with a great message! It might be easier to read if you put spaces between every four lines, but that's up to you. You're very talented at this! :) God bless.
