Topic: Countdown to Christmas/Advent (10/23/08)
Two months 'til Christmas; it's still far away.
Lots of time to prepare before we wake on that day.
We see in the stores the season has begun.
A quiet voice says,"Where is the Son?"

Writing out lists, where do we start?
We want out gifts to be gifts of the heart.
Boxes, paper and ribbons, it looks like a ton.
A quiet voice says, "What about the Son?"

One month 'til Christmas, pictures to take and we need new clothes.
Cards to write, can we skip some of those?
The pace starts to quicken, the days become one.
A quiet voice says,"Remember the Son."

Decorating, cleaning and so much more.
When did Christmas become such a chore?
Two more weeks and we're far from done.
A quiet voice says,"Find time for the Son."

There's baking to do, cookies and candy for neighbors and friends.
Time is getting short and the list never ends.
Gingerbread houses and crafts for fun.
A quiet voice says,"Don't forget the Son."

Parties to attend, and concerts for school.
My mind and body have run out of fuel.
Only a week now, how much more can we run?
A quiet voice says," Find rest in the Son."

It's Christmas Eve and things start to slow down.
Surely all we've accomplished should be renowned!
Family gathers and we feel warmly as one.
A quiet voice says,"Where is the Son?"

As we count down to Christmas this year,
Let's not let the busyness make us fear.
If we put Jesus first with HIS Season begun,
Others will look and say,"There is the Son."

Wow! I love this. Other than a little bit of minor rhythm problem this is wonderfully written. I love the build up of emotion and distraction over the course of time and the message. How sadly true that we all have been guilty of getting side tracted during our preparation of Christmas. Nicely done! I like this alot! God bless your gift and insight!!!:0)

Good job. The rythm was misplaced in a couple of places but the message was much needed. Keep writing.

There may have been a slight "flow problem" with the poetry, but the thoughts are really heart serching. We all need to be reminded of the prescious SON! God bless you for putting it into this poem. Cheery Blossom

Lovely poem - I really enjoyed the last line of each verse. If you want to think a bit more about meter(rhythm of the poetry), take a look at Jan's masterclass with that name on the message boards. A really useful resource.
