I remember growing up. Dad always brought hapiness to my life. Ofcourse he is not the perfect person-what with his drinking problem. But that did not stop me from loving him. We just got along so well, it's like I understood him for what he really is. Even with his constant absence in our family house because he worked in the city away from where we lived, I just loved him. I remember looking forward to his visits and getting so disappointed when all he did was rave and rant in his druken state. Then he would be all sober and sad the following day and then I took the time to love him in as himself.
Then came the time to leave home and get married. Standing there beside me, holding my hand, he whispered those words that will never leave my heart. I will miss you. That almost got me confused about the step I was just about to make. But for the love of my husband I would surely have chosen dad's love anytime!
Up to date, when I am faced with life's challenges, just knowing that dad has faith in me, that I am his strong girl, that gives me strength to move on. I can confidently say that I still feel him nudging me, urging me on even though we live miles apart. I just wish that every father would know the impact that they have in the lives of their children. It is a legacy from God to bring up secure kids who can identify God's love with the love of the dad's who bring them into this world. Dads are special people. In their own masculine way they teach and love like no other person would. My heart goes out to all the children growing up without the love of a daddy, the masculine identity of God's provision. But then God in his mercy and love will fill their hearts with love only he can give.
