September first, the 12th of May
The old in faith, the young at play
Will celebrate a special day.
A birthday cake, a present bound,
With pretty ribbon all around,
A card or two, or three, or four,
Maybe less, sometimes more,
With party favors, ice cream flavors
Singing voices, happy noises
Upon this date, to each their way,
Will celebrate, a special day.
Earthly birthdays, pleasured times.
Gently play, within our minds
Recalling smiles in days gone by,
The many gifts, we did untie.
And in my life there’ll never be
A gift for all eternity
Then Dear Lord’s present to us all
No better one can I recall.
This gift to us so loving given,
To save his people from their sin,
And gave to all, his blessed son,
Mathew 2, Chapter one.
