This Sunday morning was different. For years, my husband had worked most Sundays. So it was rare that we had an opportunity to worship together. Yet here we were on this particular Sunday Morning.
"For the Lord is present and where He is is holy,"
Our church traditionally passed communion throughout the congregation but this morning the senior pastor and the associate pastor were serving each person individually. To make this happen, we were going forward row by row.
"This is holy ground, we're standing on holy ground,"
As the music played and the congregation sang, it was easy to tell something special was happening in this house of worship. Unfortunately, I was sure my husband would not recognize it. He was not one to be moved by the music in church.
"For the Lord is present and where He is is holy,"
I glanced around and saw tears streaming from many faces around us. We had just finished singing Sweet, Sweet Spirit and the Spirit exuded from this gathering of believers. Yes, something special was indeed happening here.
"We are standing on holy ground, And I know that there are angels all around,"
I was thrilled that my beloved was with me to witness this. However, I still did not know if all of this was being lost on him. Why was he so hard to reach during the music portion of the worship service?
"We are standing on holy ground, We are standing in His presence, on holy ground."
Then in an instant I knew. My precious husband turned to me, looked me in the eyes, and said “I feel like I should remove my shoes.” We were indeed experiencing the presence of the Lord together.

Exodus 3:4-6 (New International Version)
4 When the LORD saw that he had gone over to look, God called to him from within the bush,
"Moses! Moses!"
And Moses said,
"Here I am."
"Do not come any closer,"
5 God said. "Take off your sandals, for the place where you are standing is holy ground."
6 Then he said, "I am the God of your father: The God of Abraham, the God of Isaac, the God of Jacob."
Moses hid his face, afraid to look at God

I'd love to see you expand on the final portion where your husband turns to you - the look in his eyes, the feelings of intimacy with him and with God, etc.
Great moment! Thanks for sharing.
