“Hello. My name is Glorybee! What’s yours?” she asked politely.
“Go away! Leave me alone,” said the fellow in a grumpy voice.
“My, my,” said Glorybee, “No need to be rude, I was just trying to be nice.”
“No need for niceties!” yelled the fellow.
Glorybee had never seen such a mean creature. She had no idea how to react. She went about her day only to have the voice of the gruff creature repeating in her head. She knew she needed to help him, but how?
As Glorybee went around the neighborhood looking for good deeds, she stopped to speak with Willyorm.
“Hello Willyorm. How are you today?” asked Glorybee.
“Great,” said Willyorm.
“Say, have you seen the new fellow yet?” asked Glorybee.
“Sure have and he seems very upset about something,” answered Willyorm. “I tried to say hi to him earlier.”
“Me too,” said Glorybee, “I wonder why he’s so glum. Maybe Betterfly will know how to cheer the little fellow up. I’ll see you later. Have a Beeautiful day!”
“Bye Glorybee,” said Willyorm.
Glorybee went on her way to see Betterfly in the flower patch. Hopefully she could help.
“Betterfly are you here?” Glorybee asked.
“Over here!” said a voice amongst the daisies.
“Oh there you are,” said Glorybee, “You seem to just blend in with the colors around here.”
“Sorry,” said Betterfly, laughing, “What’s going on? Any thing new?”
“Actually there is a strange thing happening today,” said Glorybee. “I saw a newcomer and he wouldn’t even say hi to me. All he did was tell me to leave him alone. I really do not know how to help this creature.”
“I too saw this fellow this morning. I’m afraid he comes from the Murky Mudlands and has traveled farther than he intended,” explained Betterfly, “ I think he is just lost and frustrated.”
“ Perhaps I could help him by leading him back to Murky Mudlands,” said Glorybee, “Maybe that would make him happy again.”
“Well it’s worth a try,” said Betterfly, “but good luck he seems pretty bitter.”
“Maybe he doesn’t know Jesus,” said Glorybee as if just struck by a marvelous thought. “I haven’t done my good deed yet today. Maybe this is the deed I am suppose to do. I’ll see you later Betterfly. I have work to do! Have a Beeautiful day!”
“Bye Glorybee,” said Betty cheerfully.
Glorybee couldn’t even imagine someone not experiencing Jesus. No wonder this creature was so grouchy, he must not know Jesus. She would have to find him right away.
“Hello again,” said Glorybee in her friendliest voice, “Can we talk for a minute? I know you are not happy to be here but perhaps I can help.”
“How could you possible help,” said the creature gruffly, “you have no idea who I am?”
“It doesn’t matter who you are,” piped Glorybee, “Jesus loves us all.”
“Jesus? Who is Jesus?” asked the fellow in an uncertain voice.
“Jesus died to save us from all our sins,” said Glorybee.
“ Died for our sins? Who would do that for anybody,” said the creature.
“For God so loved the world. He sent His only beloved son who died on the cross so we may have eternal life,” explained Glorybee.
“I never knew of such a deed!” said the creature. “Could you tell me more?”
“Sure, but first what is your name,” asked Glorybee.
“My name is Timurtle,” said the creature, “I came here in search of something happy. I guess I just found it. Thank you for trying to be my friend, sorry for being grouchy to you this morning. It’s just sometimes things never seem to go right.”
“ That’s okay,” said Glorybee, “I have bad days too, but I know Jesus is with me and it helps me get through the tough times. With Jesus in my heart things seem better. Would you like to have Jesus in your heart too, Timurtle?”
“I sure would,” said Timurtle with excitement.
Glorybee spent the rest of the day with Timurtle teaching him all about Jesus. Glorybee felt she had accomplished the best good deed ever, she shared Jesus with someone. Happy too was Timurtle and he went back to Murky Mudland to tell his friends about Jesus.
