Family, that is what he said and he promised we’d always be together. Her heart broke as he walked away, never even stopping to look back. Now she stood alone and pregnant.
The artist smiled as he glanced down, he had found his much needed inspiration. In time the beauty of his canvas would be revealed.
Her tearful blue eyes were a reflection of everything she lost and everything she loved. She gently placed her hand over her stomach, could she suffer just one more? She glanced around the empty waiting room, taking her emotions in. Was this truly her decision alone to make?
“Forgive me Lord,” she cried.
Moments later the nurse appeared, prepped for the procedure. “Julie, we’re ready for you,”she said pausing to glance around the empty waiting room. She shrugged her shoulders and headed back through the door.
He glanced loving at his masterpiece. His canvas was splashed with brilliant blues, pleasant purples and tasteful greens. It was becoming the portrait of perfection that he’d always envisioned.
Nervously, she glanced at the papers lying on the nearby desk and across to the young couple with their hands clasped together in prayer, tears streaming down their cheeks.
Her eyes glanced down to the peaceful dark-haired bundle sleeping in her arms. She leaned to give daughter one last kiss on the cheek. Then the child was gently placed in the young couple's awaiting arms.
“Would you please name her Hope,” she asked.
The new mother nodded, “Yes, we will so she’ll always know how much she’s loved.”
She reached for the pen and placed her signature on the dotted line. A word was stamped across the page in red that read: ADOPTED.
Today her daughter had finally found a home and so had she. She couldn’t help but smile as she stepped into the brilliant sunlight, gazing upward toward home.
God was smiling as he glanced down at his finished masterpiece. Brilliant colors of his love, his hope, his blood and his tears washed over the canvas.
Another beautiful masterpiece had been completed. Yes, she had finally been completed.
And I am sure of this, that he who began a good work in you will bring it to completion at the day of Jesus Christ. - Philippians 1:6
