Topic: Leadership (03/14/05)
I have seen a sign posted about a team of Anybody, Somebody, and Nobody(author unknown) in the various places I have worked. In this poem they talk about how an assignment fell through due to Anybody, Somebody, and Nobody assuming each one did the job. This made sense when I was younger and a follower and I thought it pretty wise. As I grew in maturity and found myself in a leadership role, I read this again and felt it was incomplete. I felt obligated to write my own poem to complete the picture.

The continuing saga of the team
Anybody, Somebody, and Nobody it seems
Lacks something more in this little scheme
A captain perhaps, someone to lead this team.

Whose to blame we may ask
had a leader assinged the task
The job would have been complete
and all would have known success so sweet

But without a person to take the lead
The task was doomed never to succeed
Round and round they all ran
with no help of a guiding hand

So who really dropped the ball
It seems to be a very close call
without the presence of competent leadership
the goal from their hands quickly slipped

This is a racy poem that depicts the trend of today. Blame others so we can get off scott free. Much is expected from those who are given much.

Oh how we loved to pass the blame as this little poem concludes! But in essence, without leadership, Nobody to come forward, Anybody to care and Somebody to help with the load, nothing is going to get done. Liked this!

I've worked in that environment and I found the truths in the poem quite painful. Without a gifted leader, abilities are wasted and progress is impossible. Status-quo in on a downward slide.
