She laid awake in the darkness of her bedroom. Outside the sky was pitch black with the moon just a sliver in the night sky. There was no wind or night sounds to arouse her senses, just complete silence. She turned over in her large poster bed, pulled the pillow around to cradle her neck, and settled in for the night. It was only then that she could escape the loneliness she felt inside.
As she drifted off she found herself engulfed in a vast expanse of void. All around her was darkness. She knew that although she was floating and just existing within, she was not alone. He had always been there. He was her guide, her mentor, and the one that held the truth of the universe. Where was she now? The nothingness was almost suffocating and she waited for direction from her guide.
She had no physical body; it had long become unnecessary. Although, she was not a whole being, somehow she had the ability to have thoughts. She floated for what seemed like eons. Then her guide communicated with her. Of course, this was the beginning. Before the universe was inhabited with its many souls. Before our generations had made such a mess of things. Before our creator had put it all together; the stars, the universe, and life as she knew it. Her guide cautioned her to pay close attention to the many things that were about to enfold before her. She had only one opportunity to observe. She was entering the learning phase in what seemed to be a short journey.
Suddenly, pure energy flashed into being; light of an unimaginable brilliance filled the universe around her. The bath of the light pervaded the cosmos and the now created cosmic fireball expanded and cooled. After a few minutes the first particles of matter appeared like droplets. They exploded outwards in a diaspora, forming strings of galaxies. The scattered particles collected to form atoms. The blinding luminosity of the early universe faded into a soft glow caused by a cooling cloud of primordial oxygen.
Stars were born as she watched. Many of these stars were surrounded by planets. The Earth carrying the Sun, Moon, and stars with them were in perfect orbits as they revolved. The beginning of life started to take place. The lower forms of life and then the souls of those before her.
The earth was bathed in a faint glow of radiation coming from every direction in the heavens. The entire universe seemed to be the source. She realized almost immediately what it was. It was the life source for all creation...
It was a masterful thing to observe. The universe on its way to growth and its many phases and extensions of life. How many generations had came before her? Had they left a trace for her to find or would she never know they were here? Now she knew there was more to life. She had witnessed it firsthand from the one who came FIRST.....
