“How shall we escape if we ignore such a great salvation?
This salvation which was first announced by the Lord, was
confirmed to us by those who heard him.”
Hebrews 2:3 (NIV)
Fear, stress, confusion – “Escape.” – Injustice, frustration, anger-
“Escape.”- strife, hatred, hostility – “Escape.”- loneliness, boredom,
discontent – “Escape.” – emptiness, pain, sadness – “Escape!”
“Hurry, hurry, hurry!”
The still small voice became increasingly louder, drowning out the din of the world.
“Run, run, run!
Right into my arms,
Collapse,
Cry,
Surrender!”
Overwhelmed and exhausted, I crumpled in His embrace,
And leaving my pride behind, I uttered these familiar words learned long ago.
“Lord, make me to lie down in green pastures.
Lead me beside those still waters.
Restore my soul!”
I recognized His voice, and His reassuring words settled on my soul.
“When you are ready,
yielded, and filled,
then ever so gently,
I will send you back.
I’ll comfort you with rod and staff for when you are afraid,
or when you stumble, or fall.
I will guide you in those paths of righteousness
for your safety and to my glory.
I’ll prepare a table before you
in the presence of your enemies,
and they will see my hand in it.
As I anoint your head with the oil of honor,
Your cup will overflow with blessings,
Dripping down filling others’ cups.”
My humble response could only be…
“Please, Jesus, come live in me…
With your strength I will follow you,
and your goodness, love, and mercy
will follow me forever,
and I will escape this world
and come dwell in Your house.”
