spoke louder
than the voice that refused to sleep
and dragged me along with him each night
where did this all start
how did i get here?
my daughter is stronger than i
and my wife is weaker than us both
but i promised these dear faces
to be here til the end,
and my own heart
that could not fully comprehend -
this isn't what i had in mind
this isn't what I had planned
my empty pockets
bring me to the floor
i've never felt so heavy
not even when i had much more
But i am reminded
It is not I who provides
It is not on me which it depends
but the voice that i choose to listen to
and the God who will defend
"We did it," He'll say
and victory will be there waiting for us
like it always had been
since before this ever began
