Seasons of life; Rhythms of life
They take us by surprise
Like unpredictable skies
Spoiling the picnics in our life
They come in all shapes and sizes
Like interlopers, they intrude into us
Shifting our paradigms,
And fine-tuning us
Despair and distress descended on us
Recounted a disciple and Cleopas
Tramping the road to Emmaus
Chatting cheerlessly about events that chilled us
Suddenly a stranger accosted us
What are you both discussing while walking
Rudely, We replied. "Are you ignorant of what's been happening?"
We've already found life disconcerting
On Him We began unleashing
Our woes and discouragement
Patiently and without any judgment
He listened as if His predicament
When He seemed to depart from us
We sought Him to sojourn with us
Only when He gave thank for the bread
did We recognize Him- Our Lord
Yes, We've witnessed the risen Lord
Straight from the horse' mouth
Declared the two disciples with their mouths
All their disappointment disappeared in a flash
Beginning with Moses and all Prophets
He expounded the Word to us
Weren't our hearts burning within us--
Welcome to life afresh at Emmaus

Yes, those who know can speak the truth right from the horse's mouth.
Beautiful, simply beautiful.
