Became a most courageous cat,
And of the dangers he would see
Because of curiosity.
His nose stuck in a hornet’s nest
Created some amount of stress.
Then with a vicious dog he tangled;
His jaw, his nose, one ear got mangled.
He ran into a squirrel trap,
Which caused his right front leg to snap.
He climbed into an old oak tree,
Was pinned by limbs till he broke free.
While chasing all about the house
To try to find a little mouse,
He never saw the rocking chair
That caught his tail beneath it there.
Once in the dark of a cloudy night,
He joined in a rousing tomcat fight.
A neighbor shot him with a rifle
And missed him by the merest trifle.
A fine feline he hoped to meet
And dashed across a busy street.
Then with his usual good luck,
Did not get struck by the garbage truck.
But when he saw some dynamite
And thought he’d like to take a bite,
His nine lives ended just like that,
And curiosity killed the cat.
