Nowadays things have changed, most men cannot tolerate living with one wife and also some couples have been married for as much as ten to fifteen years without a child. Sharing of properties and are now a primary cause of family and communal disputes. Family ties are becoming loosely knotted. In about 50 years a culture of a tribe has been almost wiped out and replaced by the quest for more. The big question is "more of what ?". Rural population in my tribe has heavily reduced, and you find an estimated three or four people in a home with close to 70 percent of them being above 50 years old. People have migrated to urban areas in search of what? ... Unemployment, hunger, frustration, theft, prostitution, rape, kidnapping and murder and more crimes to name a few. The urban migration dream has been interrupted with reality. These realities are ever present amongst us, in our neighborhoods and our communities.
We live in a time when people don't know what they want because the media decides for us. We get the same brand of cars with just the year of production being the difference. You find models like AB123 and in the next 9 months they are about to launch "the all new AB123.1 with enhanced features". Recently a soccer player was signed with a voluminous amount of 130 million dollars a historical record breaking fee , even the very best soccer player in world did not cost as much to make a transfer.
That reminds me of the passage in the Bible that talks about the parable of the talents in Matthew 25 :14 - 30 and Luke 19 :12. We expect and hope in many than in little. Its ironical that life itself does not offer more to anyone, whether rich or poor, happy or unhappy we only have got one and equal time to achieve a perfect life. We have been weighed with the expectations of our family, friends and society to achieve the impossible. We have juggled multiple responsibilities to meet up in our jobs, homes, work and schools. We have submerged ourselves in public opinion to gain acceptance. Success does not guarantee happiness but contentment does. And I bet you in a specific time all of us will not be here to see what happens next. We will all be gone, the world will move on. These changes will always happen without us, but what is more important is the change that happens within us "For what shall it profit a man, if he shall gain the whole world, and lose his own soul? Or what shall a man give in exchange for his soul? " According to Mark 8: 36-37. 2Timothy 3 :2 -5, says "For men shall be lovers of their own selves, covetous, boasters, proud, blasphemers, disobedient to parents, unthankful, unholy, Without natural affection, trucebreakers, false accusers, incontinent, fierce, despisers of those that are good, Traitors, heady, highminded, lovers of pleasures more than lovers of God; Having a form of godliness, but denying the power thereof: from such turn away." Is this scripture not the perfect description of the origin of crimes and all the bad news we see on TV and internet?. You can always ask for more peace by asking JESUS into your life and he will give it to you, "Peace I leave with you, my peace I give unto you: not as the world giveth, give I unto you. Let not your heart be troubled, neither let it be afraid. " John 14:27. There is no more to ask for in this world than just peace. And JESUS is there to give you more "If any man thirst, let him come unto me, and drink. " John 7:37. He also implores you to "Come unto me, all ye that labour and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you, and learn of me; for I am meek and lowly in heart: and ye shall find rest unto your souls. " Matthew 11:27-29. Find more peace today.
