Was spared from God’s destruction plan,
Corruption caused God’s heart to break
So He wiped out the human race,
Before Noah’s ark had sailed
Outside locked door, people wailed
I wonder, as flood waters rose
Did scoffers ponder paths they’d chose
Did bells start ringing in their minds--
That hell-bent lives were Satan’s kind
Genesis 7
Five foolish virgins unprepared
With oil enough, they hadn’t cared,
The cry rang out, “The bridegroom’s here,”
At midnight five awoke in fear
They ran to get their jars supplied,
The bridegroom left, their chances died
Too late--ding-dong--now shut outside
“Keep watch,” we’re told, or be denied
But wise were five whose lamps shone bright
With Him, their Lord they went that night
Matthew 25:1-13
The parable of the talents shows
That with each gift our God bestows,
Responsibility rests upon each man
To grow, bear fruit while he can,
Be faithful with much, be given more
Be willing to serve--it’s not a chore
The lazy servant’s heart was shattered
He missed the point--what really mattered
Distant dinging he now heard
Roused unstudied, forgotten Words

A tornado funnel raged with hunger
Devouring homes it split asunder,
Schools and daycares got prepared
The twister gulped--all were scared
Over their children teachers laid
Though not allowed, out loud one prayed
God answered her--that child’s alive--
Scripture teaches with God we thrive
It’s time to don our shields and fight
Stand tall, speak out, change wrongs to right
