It is said we all have a hole in us that only God can fill, a God-shaped hole. I think also of Jesus being the key to our hearts, like old-timey valentines say about one’s lover. Jesus unlocks us from cells in prisons we don’t even know we are in. Sin holds us captive and blind to what we can and should do.
Many years back, when newly reborn, I was reading the paper and the article spoke of a young white woman serving kids in Cabrini Green housing project. This little African American kid came up to her and smiled and said “Hellooooooo Christian lady.” He didn’t know her but he recognized her spirit. She was a protected angel sent to help there. Her spirit was free to go ANYwhere God sent her.
Macau is a city in southern China newly exploding with development in gambling. I saw a Chinese man there boldly walking it’s streets in a determined swagger with a red and white t-shirt that said Jesus on it in foot high letters. He was totally free in Jesus.
“It is for freedom that Christ has set us free. Stand firm, then, and do not let yourselves be burdened again by a yoke of slavery.” Galatians 5:1
I pray for new born freedom for all God’s people.

I think this is a fabulous devotion. You made some great points in this piece. My suggestion might be to expand a bit more on your examples. I wanted to know more about the kid in the street and the lady sent there to watch over them. If you can just focus on one thing or work on smoothing out your transitions, then I think you will turn good writing into great writing in no time at all. You did a nice job on this and I enjoyed reading it. It made me stop and think about where Jesus is sending me today, and if I'm willing to go there. Making a person stop and think is always a good thing for an author to do. Good job.
