Welcome – All Hands Staff Meeting.
“Good Morning everyone. Thank you for attending today’s All-Hands Staff Meeting. If you haven’t noticed it yet, there is coffee, tea, bagels and bakery in the back for anyone who wants it.”

• Ongoing Department Staffing Shortage
• Sick Time Policy
• Unplanned Absence Policy
• New hire bonus
• Department Summer Picnic
“I wanted to address the entire department today regarding several issues that have cropped up in the past couple of months. First, I want to address the fact that we are very short-staffed. Second, I want to review our overall Sick Time Policy. Third, we want to look at the Unplanned Absence Policy. Fourth, if you recommend a person to be hired and we hire them, we are offering double the Company new hire bonus. And finally, something we are announcing today: Department Summer Picnic.”

• Ongoing Department Staffing Shortage
“We are painfully aware that several people have left the company and our department for various reasons—2 were deployed to serve our country overseas, which we applaud and support. We will keep their positions open for when they return, but in the mean time, the work needs to get done. I have heard and overheard some grumbling in this area. I know that stress levels are at an all-time high and morale is probably at an all-time low.”

• Ongoing Department Staffing Shortage
• 3 New Direct Hires
• 2 Contractors
“Please be assured we are re-doubling our efforts in recruiting 3 new hires and we are also talking about hiring contractors to fill in for the 2 people who were deployed. I know that some of you are reticent about hiring contractors—but we need the bodies. Please understand, we really, truly appreciate all the hard work all of you are doing—we just need more of you.”
PowerPoint Slide # 5
• Sick Time Policy
“Today, we are announcing a new Sick Time Policy.”
PowerPoint Slide # 6
• Sick Time Policy
• 7 Days sick time eliminated
• Sick days added to your current vacation days
“We are combining sick days and vacation days. This puts the responsibility on your shoulder to manage your days off. If you call in sick: it will be considered a vacation day. If you run out of vacation days, that contingency is outlined in the details of the new Sick Time Policy posted on our Employee Portal.”
PowerPoint Slide # 7
• Unplanned Absence Policy
“Also today, we are announcing a new Unplanned Absence Policy.”
PowerPoint Slide # 8
• Unplanned Absence Policy
• No questions asked.
• Contractor will be hired to cover your time off.
• If abused, Contractor will take your place.
“Also today, we are announcing a new Unplanned Absence Policy. If you call in and say you need the day off for-whatever-reason, we will not ask any questions. It is understood by you that a contractor will be called in to cover your shift. We need to be plain: if this policy is abused, the Contractor will take your place and will be hired directly by the company.”
PowerPoint Slide # 9
• New Hire Bonus
“As I mentioned earlier, if you recommend a person to be hired and we hire them, we are offering double the Company new hire bonus."
PowerPoint Slide # 10
• New Hire Bonus
• You will get the standard bonus
• Your friend will also get a bonus!
“But, with a twist: you will be awarded the standard company bonus for recommending them; and we will give your friend the same bonus, after working here for 90 days.”
PowerPoint Slide # 11
• Department Summer Picnic
“Finally, today we are announcing something new: a Department Summer Picnic. Many of you mentioned that you cannot or will not attend—because of our staff shortages—the big company picnic every year. We came up the idea of having a smaller, traditional department summer picnic. We are open to suggestions of where and when we should have it: please e-mail me your ideas. One friendly warning, though: If you suggest something, you will be in charge of organizing and executing it.”

“We can do this! These changes will help us get the staff we need. Any questions?”

The problem is that power points aren't inherently interesting, and without the accompanying slides, it really needs something quite compelling to keep the reader interested. I was hoping for some humor or for something unexpected to ramp up the conflict.
The pacing was very good, and the tone was spot on. Very good job.
God bless~
