Sara rolled over and slapped the alarm clock, “just a few more minutes” she muttered.

She felt something annoyingly wet just as Coco, her small dog finds her face in the covers. “Ok Coco! I’m up!”

Sara sluggishly walked into her efficiency apartment kitchen to give Coco fresh kibbles and water as the little dog twisted and turned with tail wagging in excitement; breakfast was the best part of Coco’s day!

Sara settled on to the sofa, Bible in hand, Coco on her lap, and a steaming cup of coffee hoping to find a few words of encouragement for her day. Long work days left her feeling drained plus there were three work days remaining before she could relax on the weekend. She heard her pastor admonish many times that everyone should find rest in the Lord but still Sara struggled. She sipped coffee, scratched Coco’s ears, and read, “And he said, My presence shall go with thee, and I will give thee rest” Exodus 33:14.

The words were a comfort to her soul; she knew it was going to be a fantastic day!

This sounds like a day out of my life. I am glad God gives us many opportunities throughout the day to rest in Him.

Awww, I loved the part about her pet in the covers! That sounds like my little guy!

Nice job, beautiful message.

God bless~

This is a sweet right to the point story. I would have enjoyed reading more about your MC and her dog. That's a good thing when a reader wants to read more. I did notice you switched tense from psst to present and back again. I enjoyed the intersection with the dog as it gives the reader some input about the MC's personalities. Keep writing!

Cute. Easy to identify with. Fun and light. I have a cat that rides on my shoulder when I cook. Animals seem to be such a nice addition to any story.
