If disconnected, we run the risk
Of taking turns down dead-end roads
And giving in to what corrodes
Distractions dangle in weary faces,
Lord help us know just where our place is--
Not in a greedy world that craves
Everything but You who saves
Help us hear, “Don’t gamble please
With precious time in days like these
Sift away each cheapened pleasure
Until what’s left is godly treasure”
Like wandering Jews in days of Moses
We oft forget the One who chose us
Instant, empty gratifications
Dangerously sabotage salvations
Lord help the wayward when we chance
To partake in the devil’s dance
I ask you please on our behalf
Guide us with your Shepherd’s staff
When paths we walk shift and shake
And we don’t see our own mistakes
Help our eyes to be opened wide
Before we’re downed by foolish pride
Lord, help us follow Your directions
Grow us Father, through corrections
Prick with thorns that keep us humble
But give us strength so we won’t crumble
If ever we’re in jeopardy
Because we trust Who we can’t see
May our prayers reach heaven’s ears,
Give us victories o’er our fears
Through persecutions dark and grim
Realize the privilege--it’s for Him
Our King, our Lord, our solid Rock
The Timekeeper of earthly clocks
