As they draw nearer to the tomb cut in stone, graciously provided by Joseph of Arimathea, they speak of a dilemma: how will they be able to find someone to roll away the stone, barring the entrance to the
tomb? They are not physically strong enough to roll the huge stone away, and they have come alone to minister to the body of their Lord as their culture dictates.
Imagine their surprise when they arrive to find the stone rolled away, and then their amazement at seeing a young man (an angel) in a white robe, seated inside the tomb. He tells them not to be alarmed because Jesus has risen, and he shows them the place where He had been laid.

There is much to be said for the faithfulness of Jesus’ followers and for the significance of His resurrection to every believer then and in all the years since. As I read this story in Mark 16 during a time of Bible study, I was impressed by the fact that the concern the women had about moving the stone had been taken care of, even before they mentioned it.
This incident made me think of the omnipresence of our God. I was reminded that in the midst of every quandary of our lives, He is there. Sometimes He sends an answer even before we ask, but in those times when we aren’t sure which direction to choose, we have the assurance that He will never leave us, and He has sent His Holy Spirit to guide us through each predicament. We can trust always in God’s omnipotence and in His steadfast love for us.
