The Choir began singing Amazing Grace,
the whispering started when I entered the place.
I felt a hot flush turn my face red,
being in the focus is something I dread.
@
Children started to giggle,
and little fingers to point.
They need lessons in manners,
but who might I appoint?
I thought to myself;
Oh, that's just plain rude!
Mothers need to teach
social attitude!
The closer to my destination,
the louder the murmurs increased.
Snickers I heard, then downright
laughter released.
What's wrong with these people?
Have they no manners?
And why was old Mrs. Meade shooting
looks of disgust mixed with daggers?
@
I glanced to my left and saw Mrs. McGavid,
slap back a comment from
her eldest son, David.
Her other hand covered little Timmy's eyes,
I thought to myself, "Those poor little guys!"
@
Midway to my seat I heard the swoosh
of someone rushing up from behind,
and as I turned toward the sound
an audible gasp came from mankind.
A hand reached out from one of the pews,
I pulled away, still not getting the clues.
Oh, how I wish I would have worn slacks,
as my skirt was hinched up and revealed all in back.
Humiliation complete for the rest of my life;
Thus my introduction as the new
preacher's wife.

I was going to write about that, but you've done it so well in verse.
You nailed it. LOL
