When, before God and man, she and her beloved will take their vows.
Her heart, filled with the hope of future joy and honor,
Rests in confidence of her groom; no hesitation it allows.
Adorned in finest lace and silk, a fair beauty, but more to be praised,
Is the gentle and meek spirit inside-the Holy Spirit’s work of grace.
Much like the flowers, who without shame, their face to the sun do raise,
In chastity and virtue, she meets her beloved groom face to face.
No longer two, before God, but one-let man, nor power, lay waste,
To what heaven, itself, has deemed holy, and placed its righteous seal upon.
Fervent love, contrary to its counterpart, from commitment makes no haste,
But, in obedience chooses marriage, and, in the end, much more has won.
The Church too, the Bride of Christ, awaits the appointed hour,
When her Groom will make His triumphant return in glory and in power.
With great zeal and anticipation, the Church awaits His unforeseen coming,
And allows the Holy Spirit’s sanctifying work to purify her for His return.
With diligence, she seeks to prepare herself for His summoning-
Unlike the poor virgins, who foolishly carried no oil for their lamps to burn.
She is faithful to her Beloved and, in humility, seeks to obey His commands,
Keeping herself unspotted from the world, and showing mercy to widows and orphans.
Placing no other before Him, she turns from temptation’s alluring hands,
Rejecting false suitor’s attempts, she holds her Bridegroom, alone, in holy reverence.
In this present time, she suffers with Him, but no evil returns for evil;
These sufferings not worthy to be compared to the glory, one day, in her, revealed.
Being filled with His love, she is salt and light, a city set on a hill,
Who, by the death and rising of Christ, rests that her future has been sealed.
“The Lord God, Omnipotent reigns. Let us be glad and rejoice and give Him glory,
For the Marriage of the Lamb has come, and His wife has made herself ready.”
Matthew 25; James 1:27; Romans 8:18; Matthew 5:13-14; Revelation 19: 6b-7
