I have my choice of views—
I gaze into the valley
And long to swap my shoes.
I see the people dressed in glitter
And all the city’s glitz;
I hunger for the cash I need
To live within their midst.
I’ve missed the outlook that surrounds me
Because my eyes are trapped,
The neon lights have blinded me
To blessings in my grasp!
But in the riches of Gomorrah
The fumes of lust are toxic,
And wary eyes can see the pain
They carry in their pockets—
Down there, they buy their happiness
To paint over their scars,
But here, magnificence surrounds me,
Outnumbering the stars!
A million views of beauty
Are mine to taste today,
If I embrace the life I’m given
And toss my lust away.
To find contentment in my lot
I only have to choose
To gaze around and count my blessings
And revel in the view.
