Thanks for having me, Roger. I look forward to sharing with your listeners today.
Lisa, I've never heard of the unique ministry you have. Please tell us about what you offer.
Through my website, Hope for Recovery from Eating Disorders, at www.hopeforrecoveryfromeds.com, I provide articles, recovery stories, recovery helps, coping skills, resources for friends and family, mentoring and more. My site is distinctly Christian, but has something to offer to those with eating disorders regardless of their beliefs. It is my desire that my visitors will find true hope in the Lord for their recovery. I have shared my own testimony of salvation as well as Scripture, written prayers, information on identity in Christ and Christian recovery helps. Whether my visitors are meeting Him for the first time or whether they already have a personal relationship with Him, it is my hope that they will grow closer to Him through their recovery.
What led you into a ministry like this, Lisa?
I am a former anorexic. As I took His word to heart, renewed my mind, leaned on Him for strength, and allowed him to lead my recovery, that is when freedom finally came. I want to encourage and inspire others in their own recovery. There are millions out there who suffer with eating disorders, and I want to reach as many of them as I can with a message of hope and healing through the Lord.
Lisa, please tell our listeners about your book.
Roger, Finding Hope for Eating Disorder Recovery, is for those with anorexia, bulimia, EDNOS and binge eating disorder, for both males and females in all walks of life. I share brief scriptural teachings that address common eating disorder issues. Each chapter also has journaling questions, a personal note from myself to the reader and a written prayer. My hope is to encourage readers to be honest with themselves, examine their thoughts, renew their minds and look to the Lord in all aspects of the recovery.
This is great, Lisa. Listeners, I hope you'll check out Lisa's website, at www.hopeforrecoveryfromeds.com. Please also keep Lisa as well as her visitors in your prayers. Thanks for tuning in to our spotlight on Christian Ministries on the Web. To listen to the full interview with Lisa Glenn, tune in at 7:00 tonight. Also, please join us again tomorrow to hear from a gentleman who ministers to parents of children with special needs.
