Well- not everyone! Maybe if we look at what might be in the heart of someone who starts a rumor it might help us avoid getting into its trap.
One the basic needs we have is feeling important in some way. If we look at ourselves honestly, I think we find that is true.
What happens when we start a rumor? Most the time people are interested and want to know more. You know something they don't know. It can give us a sense of power.
But does it really? Is importance being able to spread rumors that might hurt someone? I don't believe that is where are true importance and purpose is.
What makes us loveable and sacred is that we are God's child! We were created with love to give love. What could be greater than that!
Materials, roles, and success, all have very little value compared to knowing who we are.
We don't need to feel important by spreading rumors. When someone starts one we can say," I am not really very interested in rumors. I'd rather hear about you and what you are doing."
We can live knowing we are God’s child. But what is just as important is everyone is God’s child and when we spread rumors we are hurting one of God’s beloved children

With the words you had yet to spare, I'd love to read this perked up a bit with some personal anecdotes. Readers really relate to others' true-life experiences.
This is a very fine devotional.
