With no work done, my job was doomed.
I’d started out the morning right
When in God’s Word I took delight,
Then piddled through the livelong day
And frittered all the hours away.
I went for coffee with some friends,
Discussing news and latest trends;
Played Scrabble on the internet
To see how many points I’d get.
I read a most intriguing book,
At crossword puzzle, had a look,
And then for something else to do,
I worked Sudoku puzzles through.
Had lunch of salad with some soup,
Before I met my writing group.
With meeting over, I went shopping,
Got all I needed, never stopping.
Came home to lie down for a rest
In quiet of our empty nest.
And then that special man of mine,
My husband, took me out to dine.
We thought to watch a TV show;
There wasn’t much of interest though.
At last, I settled down to write;
Alas, my mind was blank tonight.

Still here I sit, my column due,
Of what to say, I’ve not a clue.
Although my challenge is not met,
I shall not fear; I’ll get it yet…maybe tomorrow.
