TITLE: The Green Green Grass at Home | Previous Challenge Entry

The probe detected a habitable planet with vegetation and animal life present.
Seven years later a single pilot scout ship approached the planet and landed near the smashed probe.
On exiting the scout ship, the Argonaut was greeted by a group of intelligent Azurites.
The animals the probe had detected.
They invited him to dine with them on a diet of the blue plants that covered the landscape of this planet.
The salads were enjoyable and this peaceful vegetarian race lived a healthy live in great harmony with others.
There was no government as the food was plentiful, fast growing, and the planet was one great village to live in.
There was not a return for the Argonaut to Earth as the scout ship was one way only.
Reports were sent to Earth from the scout ship until the solar and battery system quit.
It lasted several years.
The Argonaut settled into his life on the planet and became one with the village.
Unfortunately the diet became routine.
There was only so much you could do with a salad over many years.
And it was always blue everywhere and with everything.
The food was from the plants only.
The clothes were made from the plants and blue.
Everything was blue.
On day in conversation a discussion came up on the blue grass growing everywhere.
Our Argonaut mentioned that the grass at home was a beautiful green.
The Azurites looked at each other and went silent.
Our Argonaut didn’t notice.
But, year after year, the Argonaut talked about green, over and over.
Until the Azurites wanted to scream, but remained silent.
Finally, one day the Argonaut came out of a back room with skin turning light blue and tears running down the face.
Finally one Azurite stepped up and whispered,
“Emerald”
“Green” The Argonaut replied, his eyes glazing.
“Yes.” The Azurite said, turning to walk away.
The Argonaut grabbed the Azurite.
“You have the word?”
“Yes.”
“How?”
“The other side”
“What?”
With a heavy sight, the Azurite stepped back.
“The other side of the planet, the other side of this world is called Emerald.”
“Why,” Our Argonaut whispered back.
“The grass is greener on the other side.”
It was the first time the Azurites ever heard the Argonaut from Earth scream!
