There is a certain unfading memory
Mornings, noons, and nights
That between thoughts causes rivalry
For which his questionable sanity fights
A strange serenity it relentlessly gives him
Within its reach there is absence of pain
And a denial that speaks pseudo freedom
The presence of which he suffers no disdain
It is etched in the sinews of this man’s brain
A solitary reason for his existence it gives
Like dry earth needs wetness of rain
But his true desires are drained thru a sieve
This memory comes and overpowers the rest
Like a wrestler pinning an unworthy opponent
Hopefulness evaporates from his mind’s interests
Slaving thirty years as a government proponent
But now, he retires
