We both will give full heart and soul, and neither will keep score.
We started out as kids so young and inexperience was our name,
And through the years of highs and lows, the bond of love we claim.
You ask how it could be this way, with such harmony complete.
To be one body, soul and mind, with differences so neat.
Each independent in our own way, but accepting of the other,
Then making sure most every day, the other we don’t smother.
Before we tied the marriage knot, through Christ we did unite,
Then when trials seem to come, there’s not much room for fight.
The care we have for one another runs deep and very strong,
With thirty years now under belt, we still sing the same great song.
For every day that passes by, we hold our hands and pray,
We thank the Lord for blessings great, at the eve of every day.
We pray his blessing on our kids, and thank Him for protection,
And that they never drift away from their own “God Connection.”
We’ve worked together from the start, in farming, then with lumber,
Before the light till after dark, there was no room for slumber.
Who was the boss, we did not care, and we learned to get along,
The daily praise we would not spare, and forgiveness rights the wrong.
We have now entered autumn years, with new challenges to face,
This time in life has brought some changes, but we are still in the race.
Kids are grown and on their own, pursuing life in spring,
And before the winter ends its cold, a grandchild it will bring.
Now mom and dad will wait on God, for transition is in the air,
We feel the change of autumn breeze, and maybe, just a scare.
But we still claim our Saviors leading, for He’s never let us down,
It’s still His will that we are needing, so we listen for that sound.
Of His dear voice saying I am with you, and I will not forsake,
I’ll give you peace to live through trials, in sleep and when you wake.
You are my children and I’m your Savior, and I will leave you, “never.”
Even after fall when winter comes, it’s “Thirty And Forever.”
