Topic: Up and Down (04/02/09)
Stand up to all of Satan’s wiles;
Fall down in prayer when facing trials.

Lift up your voice in thankful praise;
You won’t slump down in dreary days.

Don’t let your well of joy dry up;
God’s rain comes down to fill your cup.

Look up to Him who knows your way;
You’ll not go down a path astray.

Grow up by reading in God’s word;
Don’t stay held down by sin deterred.

Give up your will and stubborn pride;
Kneel down to find God’s grace applied.

Reach up when tempted to do wrong;
He’ll send down power to make you strong.

Hold up the standard that is right;
Don’t let down in your Christian fight.

Bear up beneath a heavy load;
When you fall down, His strength’s bestowed.

Pick up your stumbling Christian friend;
He won’t drop down to troubled end.

Lay all your treasures up above;
Lay down your life to God in love.

Couldn't help but nod my head up and down to the truths revealed in this poem. It has a feel to it that seem to belong on a stitched sampler. Nice job!

I especially like "Don’t let your well of joy dry up; -- God’s rain comes down to fill your cup." Your final stanza is powerful! You have so many creative uses of "up and down" which are perfect for teaching. Your title is perfect!
