Lamps illumine dusty streets, lighting weary travelers’ paths.
Stars wink knowingly overhead, reflecting their Creator’s radiance. He who knows their names, will soon bridge heaven and earth.
Glaringly conspicuous, one star outshines the rest, delighting the dreamer, captivating the curious, luring the wise.
Faltering lamps are soon put out as darkness descends and destinations are reached.
Lustrous moon outlines landscape, edging it in sliver. Long shadows wearily stretch in its glow, resting while they can.
Flickering candle’s beam lights a barn and the Savior’s way into the world.
Hope and love shimmer through strained, tired eyes.
Wet with water and blood, trembling infant glistens ‘neath moon and candle's gleam.
Twinkling stars reflect in donkey’s brass and cow’s bell.
Astonishing, indescribable radiance…the glory of the Lord…overwhelms awestruck shepherds.
Lights of Christmas Present:
Brightly colored bulbs frame twinkling trees in picture perfect windows.
Brilliant white lights sparkle, dressing shrubs, fences, and otherwise naked tree limbs.
Sheen of glass is brightened by candle’s gleam in each polished palatial window.
Glowing candy canes form lines to Santa Claus.
Glaring signs flash storefront boasts and bargains.
Glitz and glitter adorn holiday revelers.
Glint of gold and crystal adorn lavishly laden tables.
Luminous neighborhoods attract, compete: most lights, most festive, most extravagant, most tasteful, most…
Inflated, illumined snowmen, penguins, and snow globes stand as tall as the houses behind them -fake, iridescent snowflakes fluttering inside.
Vivid choreographed displays of carefully positioned bulbs set to rhythmic seasonal tunes flash, blink, and dance across sculptured lawns.
Lights in rapturous hearts set on hills throughout the world shimmer in rememberance and anticipation.
Lights of Christmas Future:
In blazing glory the Light of the world returns astride lustrous white horse.
No further need or desire for light exists.
