Trying to slow the bleeding from my carotid artery while waiting for the ambulance to arrive that’s exactly what I thought, Perfect Love! Perhaps better, it’s what I felt. I knew I might die and in an instant be standing face-to-Face with my Maker. There was no time for asking forgiveness, no time to clean up my life, and really no time to feel sorrowful or repentant for past acts and words, yet I knew if I should die I would be accepted into heaven in prefect love. Such an assurance during an emergency was a great surprise. I can’t say it was a relief while watching blood flow down the front of me but it was a feeling I will never forget.
One of my personal sayings is, “Death is what I’ve lived for all my life” since through death, I will finally be “home”. Eternally home with my family who have gone on before and home waiting for so many others I know to come. As being part of God’s family we have Jesus’ promise that He has gone to prepare a place for us.
Given the assurance of being accepted into His presence in perfect love when I die has been a great gift to me. I have shared this experiential knowledge with others. Before the accident I believed I would go to heaven when I died because I had accepted Jesus as my Saviour. The Bible clearly states this. The great difference is not in having this knowledge in the mind but having experienced the loving acceptance of God while close to death. I have no doubt or reservations that those who know Jesus will experience total, pure, perfect love upon arrival in heaven.
I share this gift easily. I was not a great witness before the accident. Now everyone I run into, stranger or friend, gets to hear the full story. I tell them what happened leading right into a witness of God’s love through Christ. I discovered something else through this accident: I don’t have to wait to be home with God as part of His family, He is home with me right now. I am the “home” for the Holy Spirit. Now I rejoice and commune with part of my “Family” right here and now. Praise His holy Name!
