Topic: Calm (emotionally) (09/13/07)
When you love children as much I do, and even Jesus said: "Suffer the little children to come unto me," then you will understand how much feeling went into the following piece.

The most precious gift that we can be given in this life is the newborn child. It is a miracle in and of itself. The following poem was penned after hearing the horrible news of a mother taking the life of her new infant. This poem was a direct reaction to that newscast.

In Your Hands

Here lies the child,
All fresh and new.
Cradled in your arms
precious, warm, and true.

Listening eyes look up.
They're trusting, clinging too.
A love beyond all measure -
Full of life that's needing you.

In order to survive
The child must have you near;
To feed, and bathe, and clothe,
To comfort, laugh, and cheer.

Your lives will start to intertwine,
And form a two-fold strand;
As every day you care for
This child placed in your hands.

I wish everyone felt as you do, that every newborn is precious.

I like your thought about "listening eyes" and these lines are really good. "Your lives will start to intertwine, And form a two-fold strand" Precious thoughts here!

This is just wonderful. I could picture the look of utter trust mingled with curiousity, awe and wonder at this being, the parent, their whole world. To betray and sever that precious strand is unthinkable.
